Case study

GRAPHIC DESIGN, BFa, portfolio

Goal

1

A student was transferring from an illustration background to a graphic design program.

Our primary goal was to narrow down this student’s portfolio pieces and curate their application for various graphic design programs in the US & UK.

Changes

2

Graphic design projects were added and prioritized. Some pre-existing design projects were built out with process photos.

We honed in on the strongest illustration pieces to highlighting a broad range of skills while showing design thinking in a different medium.

Outcome/acceptances

3

The portfolio was accepted to all programs the student applied for. Top choices listed below:

  • University of Southern California (USC) - acceptance rate ets. 10-12%

  • University of Los Angeles (UCLA) - acceptance rate ets. 9%

  • Boston University - acceptance rate ets. 11-13%

  • Northeastern - acceptance rate ets. 5-7%
